‘The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold.’
‘Autumn Leaves’ by Johnny Mercer
Autumn is a season of many shades and we’ve certainly had a variety of acts at Under the Bridge in recent weeks. You probably saw on social media that we hosted shows for two very big names in November.
Bruno Mars’ performance on 9 November was all over Twitter. Mostly because the ‘Lazy Song’ fella was sensational live, but also because he enjoyed the intimacy of our venue so much he called a lucky lady up from the audience to join him onstage.
He encored with an Amy Winehouse-dedicated version of ‘Valerie’ in tribute to the recently-deceased singer.
Heart DJs Emma Bunton and Jamie Theakston were also there to keep the stardust sprinkling. The gig was sponsored by Heart – Bruno is their Artist of the Year – and among the crowd were those fortunate listeners who’d won tickets from the radio station. There are pics of the night here.
Two days later folk-soul man James Morrison was onstage, wowing a fortunate bunch of his huge band of worldwide followers with songs from his latest, and by far most mature, no.1 album ‘The Awakening’.
The gig was part of Mastercard’s appropriately named ‘Priceless London’ programme and was exclusive to Mastercard holders. Priceless (as in gratis, free) also applied to the bowl food and drinks on offer too.
UK reggae/soul/indie ledge Finley Quaye was also here back on 14 October, and we have some stunning shots of his set. Plenty of people left raving about his support acts too: solo guitarist Tom Bradley and newcomers Imperial Youth.
If you haven’t experienced the intimate magic of Under The Bridge for yourself, why not come along to one of our upcoming events.
