Jimmie Vaughan & The Tilt-a-Whirl Band

DOORS 7PM BLUE TO BROWN FEATURING DOM BROWN 8PM JIMMIE VAUGHAN 9PM ****************************** Jimmie Vaughan web post   AGMP presents JIMMIE VAUGHAN & the Tilt-a-Whirl Band + special guest Blue to Brown featuring Dom Brown Jimmie Vaughan is one of the greatest and most respected guitarists in the world of popular music. “He is a virtual deity-a living legend.” – Guitar Player magazine “He’s unbeatable when it comes to the blues.” – Buddy Guy AGMP are proud to present the living Blues Guitar Legend, Jimmie Vaughan, live in concert with his Tilt-a-Whirl Band at the award winning Under the Bridge venue in London. Jimmie Vaughan grew up playing in bands such as the Swinging Pendulums,The Chessmen and Texas Storm ( the latter with his brother Stevie Ray Vaughan ) in his native Dallas, Texas in the late 1960’s. It was in the mid-1970’s though when he co-founded the Fabulous Thunderbirds with Kim Wilson that his career took off. Originally a house band at Antoine’s club in Austin, they backed such Blues greats as Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, B.B. King & Albert King and more. After recording eight albums with the Fabulous Thunderbirds Jimmie left the group in 1990 to record an album with his brother Stevie Ray Vaughan  as the Vaughan Brothers called “Family Style“. Sadly, just a few weeks before it’s release his brother died in a helicopter crash. The tragedy devastated Jimmie, who retreated from touring and recording. Eventually, Vaughan’s friend Eric Clapton invited him to open a series of 16 special concerts at London’s Royal Albert Hall. After the warm reception for his solo debut at the Clapton shows in early 1993, Jimmie started recording his first solo album, “Strange Pleasures“, which was produced by Chic’s Nile Rodgers. As Jimmie Vaughan emerged as an artist in his own right, his reputation as a master musician became even more apparent, thanks to the admiration of blues legends like B.B. King and Buddy Guy, such guitar superstars as Eric Clapton and Z.Z. Top’s Billy Gibbons, and rising talents likeJonny Lang and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. As Clapton notes, “The first time I heard Jimmie Vaughan, I was impressed with the raw power of his sound. His style is unique, and if I’ve learned anything from him, it’s to keep it simple.”” >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Blue to Brown featuring Dom Brown Blue to Brown is a dynamic and exciting father – son blues band featuring Rob Brown and Dom Brown. Rob Brown (lead vocalist of Gets/z Loose) is a deep and powerful vocalist/blues shouter. The Daily Express described him as “Robert Johnson on overdrive”. Rob is also an established voice artist. Dom Brown is signed to Perfect Songs Publishing. Described by Bluesmatters as having produced “superb guitar work”, Dom has written and produced two critically acclaimed solo albums released on Remedy Records. Mojo described Dom as someone who “clearly has the chops, playing with verve and intelligence”. Dom has been the lead guitarist with Duran Duran since 2006 and co-wrote all but two songs on their 2011 Mark Ronson-produced album All You Need Is Now. He shares writing credits with Mark Ronson, Anamatronic (Scissor Sisters), Kelis, and Nick Hodgson (Kaiser Chiefs). Dom is currently co-writing Duran Duran’s 14th studio album that they are hoping to release in 2015. The music of Blue to Brown ranges from old to new, from Muddy Waters to Jimi Hendrix to Blue to Brown original material – a surprising mix of originals and covers. The band released their eponymous debut of all original material in Febuary 2013. Produced by Dom, the album features drummer Darrin Mooney (Primal Scream, Gary Moore), sax player Martin Winning (Van Morrison, John Martyn), backing vocalist Anna Ross (Duran Duran, Stereophonics), bassist Jonathan Noyce (Gary Moore, Jethro Tull) and keyboardist Mike Bramwell (Whitesnake, Uli Jon Roth).
