First concert in over two decades for Japanese Soul-Jazz Vocalist / Flautist.
Monday Michiru is a singer / songwriter who first appeared in the UK as special guest of Mondo Grosso at the height of the ‘Acid-Jazz’ Movement in the early 1990’s, for which she was one of the pioneers in Japan. Monday performed last in the UK at the 1996 Phoenix Festival alongside Ben Harper, The Pharcyde, Maxwell, Guru’s Jazzmatazz and more.
Monday has been releasing solo albums since 1991 and has collaborated with Basement Jaxx, Kyoto Jazz Massive, DJ Krush, Masters at Work, United Future Organisation, Mondo Grosso, Soul Bossa Trio and many more over her distinguished career.
Monday Michiru is the daughter of jazz pianist Toshiko Akiyoshi and jazz saxophonist Charlie Mariano. Aside from her music career, Monday has also been a successful actress, model, radio presenter and journalist.
Tonight’s special one-off concert will see Monday fly in from New York where she now lives. Special guests to be announced shortly.
