World Party came into being in 1986 as the solo project of formerWaterboys keyboard player Karl Wallinger, carrying the torch for intelligent pop and outstanding live musicianship. The group has amassed five critically acclaimed albums so far, including the Grammy nominated Goodbye Jumbo, (Wallinger’s take on Carl Jung) which won the first ever Q Magazine “Album of the Year” award in 1990, and a series of hit singles, most notably “She’s the One”, written after the death of Wallinger’s mother, and subsequently recorded by Robbie Williams, earning Williams a No.1 and Brit Award.
