Mexican acoustic flamenco rock duo Rodrigo y Gabriela have been lined up as the fourth act in the UTBx5 series, a five concert series to celebrate the 5th anniversary of Under the Bridge.
Having already presented shows from Lianne La Havas and Leon Bridges, and with Jack Garratt performing this evening, this one-off series offers the opportunity to catch some of the world’s hottest bands and artists in an intimate setting and continues to affirm Under the Bridge’s status as one of the best small venues on the London circuit.
Legendary genre fusing duo Rodrigo y Gabriela have spent the last 15 years releasing and touring their unique blend of acoustic, rock and heavy metal at sold out stadiums and festivals across the globe.
Whether they’re covering Metallica or collaborating with Hans Zimmer, they consistently push boundaries of contemporary music with their intricately layered riffs and subtle percussion.
They released 9 Dead Alive back in 2014, one of their most experimental creations yet, and will be dipping into their stunning back catalogue when they play up close and personal at one of London’s most exciting small venues on 25th April.
Tickets for Rodrigo y Gabriela (priced at £10) go on sale Wednesday April 20th at 10am from www.DICE.fm. All proceeds go to the Musicians without Borders charity, which uses the power of music to bridge divides, connect communities, and heal the wounds of war.
*Be sure to download the DICE ticket app from DICE beforehand by visiting their website or the app store.
The final show of the series will take place on May 10th, details of which will be revealed a week beforehand.
During its short existence, Under the Bridge has established itself as one of the leading live music venues on the London circuit, having presented shows from some of the biggest acts in the world, won numerous industry awards, partnered with the likes of Channel 4, BBC Radio 2, Heart and XFM, hosted events for NME the MOBOs, the Classical BRITs and Q magazine and, perhaps most importantly, garnered the respect of the industry and built a reputation amongst bands and artists as one of the capital’s must-play venues.
Alan Tenenbaum, Creative Manager, Under the Bridge:
“We’ve enjoyed some incredible live performances at Under the Bridge over the last five years and I hope with these fifth anniversary concerts, and with the work we do at the venue in the future, that we can continue to make a positive, worthwhile contribution to the live music scene in the UK.”
Laura Hassler, Founder & Director – Musicians without Borders:
“Over the past sixteen years, Musicians without Borders has organized successful music projects in current and post conflict regions in the Balkans, the Middle East, Central Africa and the EU. We work closely with local musicians and organizations to build sustainable projects in response to local needs. We are delighted to be teaming up with Under the Bridge for this hugely exciting series of shows, which will provide much-needed financial support to the work we are doing around the world.”
