Climax Blues Band
It’s been a long road….. one thing for sure is that the Climax Blues Band of today carries the same standard of quality as it did when the band formed back in the late 60s and achieved such great success and recognition through the 70s and 80s, huge selling albums like FM / Live and Gold Plated, the 1976 hit single Couldn’t Get It Right (from Gold Plated) and I Love You in 1981, the reputation carrying right through until the tragic death of founder member Colin Cooper in 2008.
Colin’s death could have meant the end of Climax Blues Band but his desire was for the band to continue creating the fine blues blend that the band has been associated with since its formation, and that desire has been accepted with relish by the remaining members of the band.
George Glover has been at the keyboards in Climax since 1981, very much part of the nucleus of the band, Lester Hunt on guitar joined in 1986, drummer Roy Adams in 1987 and Neil Simpson on bass in the early 90s.
This solid unit has flown the Climax flag with tremendous passion and style.
Now there is a spring in their step, taking the band forward and already pleasing crowds throughout Europe, the ‘seamless’ transition in carrying on creating the unique Climax sound is the result of hard work, disguised by a band having a great time making music….
Graham Dee was recruited in 2012 to front the band. With his own distinctive style and a pedigree on the blues scene which included performing with The Blues Collective, The Red Lemons and joining ex-Feelgoods in The Lone Sharks as well as session vocals and voice coaching, at the same time Chris ‘Beebe’ Aldridge took on the saxophone duties with a fresh and exciting dynamic sound, both adding their own dimensions to the musicians that have carried the flag for Climax as a unit for over 15 years, in Les’s case over 25 years, and George for over 30 years.
Security Alert – The Official Live Bootleg was recorded live at Leek Arts Festival and released in 2015 on ATA.
Perfectly capturing the band’s new energy, this live album is a brilliant showcase for the band’s new members Graham Dee and ‘Beebe’ Aldridge and reassuring fans everywhere that the true Climax sound is very much intact and moving forwards. The album was mixed by Roy Wood (Wizzard, ELO, solo).
The Cinelli Brothers
The Cinelli Brothers is a project born out of a common passion for the electric Chicago and Texas blues from the 60s and 70s, when Marco (guitarist, singer and composer) and Alessandro (drummer, backing vocalist and arranger) decided to form an explosive team showcasing original repertoire in the style of Chess, Stax and Motown.
After a series of successful shows around Europe (France, UK, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal), the band decided to take things to another level. Babe Please Set Your Alarm was recorded at the Soup Studio in London and the full live and analog recording was released in May 2018 on vinyl and digital format.
This album comprises original compositions as well as a few covers, such as ‘Chain of Fools’ or ‘Back Door Man’ – which stays true to Willie Dixon’s number, as well as Prince’s ‘Kiss’, in a remarkable shuffle rhythm.
The Cinelli Brothers champion a new generation of passionate musicians sharing in the love of Blues, Soul, R&B and the true authentic sounds that have made the blues a cornerstone of music history.
The Southbound sound derives from classic influences stemming from the Chicago and Delta blues as well as early Southern rock, taking their inspiration from iconic bands such as: Derek and the Dominoes, the Allman Brothers Band, Humble Pie, Santana, Muddy Waters, Johnny Winter and Ry Cooder which culminates into a unique blend of their own modern up tempo British Blues Rock and Soulful Ballads. When performing live, all these influences come together to create an unparalleled live experience that’s both exciting and entertaining . The band have been vigorously gigging around the U.K for the past few years at festivals and venues, and trodden the boards of many of the U.K’s iconic music venues, both sharing the stage and supporting some of Britain’s best blues and rock acts around, and at their own headline shows. Southbound in early 2019 have released a brand new album called “Rocking Horse” showcasing 11 of their own original songs which blend blues, rock, and soul. Their twin guitar sounds, a funky back line and powerful vocals bring a fresh new approach on the genres with a young British fire behind it, breaking the restrictions on Blues and Rock and becoming a sound which is purely… Southbound.
The Putney Modern
Undefined by era or genre, The Putney Modern is a fresh yet traditional sound for the musically astute. Drawing on a rich history of British and US influences, The Putney Modern fuse these into a lyrically rich and melodic guitar based groove, that’s generating a rapidly growing interest and following among fans of rock and blues.
The Mojo Preachers are a five-piece, female fronted, boundary-pushing outfit, delivering hard-hitting original tunes; conjuring up a melodiously intricate, authentic yet unconventional sound. Think raw riffs, psychedelic waves, rooted rhythms & thought-provoking lyrics, all with an occasional touch of sweeping, soaring, musical emotion that only progressive blues can bring.
